Evening sketches

Thankfully, I have been working pretty regularly these days in the studio. Unfortunately, I have not been posting too much on this blog (that's partially due to the fact that, for some reason, I have to do two extra steps to get to this site). One of my main foci recently has been to work on another collaborative project with my friend and fellow collagist Anthony Morgan. This latest project involves each of us using the same two issues of two National Geographic to create our collage compositions. For that reason, I can't post those intermediates because we keep our individual ideas "secret" until the big "reveal" when we are both finished. But here are a couple of sketches I like (and with likely pursue to completion) that are not part of that project.

Addendum

After creating the previous post, I discovered that the juror for the show -- Irena Roman -- had written a short statement about the pieces that won "Honorable Mention". I like what she wrote about my work (I think she hit the nail on the head)...

Falmouth Art Center exhibit

Recently, I have been interested in showing my work outside of my immediate locale in Central New York (Utica-Syracuse area). When I cam across a call for submissions for the Summer Juried Exhibit at the Falmouth Art Center (on Cape Cod), it piqued my interest. I was very happy when my collage "Who's Protecting Whom, and from What" was accepted into the show. Rather than shipping the piece to the venue, I delivered it in person (on Tuesday) and took the opportunity to spend a few days in Falmouth, and go to the opening reception on Friday (yesterday). I was thrilled to find out that my piece had been chosen for "Honorable Mention", especially because the exhibit includes mostly very strong pieces. And I really enjoyed that some of the folks in attendance wanted to know more about the composition and the technique.
