Utopia/Dystopia exhibit

Here are my submissions for the "Utopia/Dystopia" exhibit at Main Street Gallery in Clifton Springs, NY. Of course, I chose to lean toward the "dystopia" side of the spectrum for my new work which I have entitled "Mind-Bending Nostalgia" (9.5" x 9.5"; 18" x 18" framed).

Small works exhibit

Happy to see one of my pieces featured on the exhibit card for the up-coming Broad Street Gallery  exhibit (Hamilton, NY). I'm also very humbled and excited to be part of such a group of fine artists! Photos will follow.

SMALLS

Should I really write "small" in capital letters? (LOL)
Although I was still a bit tired from this weekend's trip to Boston for the Eastern Psychological Association conference, I was also excited to get back in my creative area last night. I worked on some sketches for a very small piece (1" x 2") and was able to integrate one of the elements from the dollar bill I last posted. I've also posted a couple other sketches for potential compositional ideas.

finished postcard and "show me the money"

Here's my finished piece for this year's National Collage Society "Postcard Show". The adornments on this pink lady are pieces from a $1 bill. I am probably "preaching to the choir", but if you're willing to take the time to do very precise cutting, there are actually some pretty cool possibilities for elements from the detail in a $1 bill. I wonder how many folks would realize that's where those elements came from in this piece.

NCS Postcard Show

I'm appreciative that the NCS sent members a reminder that the Postcard Show submission due date is in a week. I lost track. So tonight I spent some rewarding time in my studio. These sketches are preliminary to my postcard, I think (?)... What a beautiful element!

mostly monochromatic

I've been intrigued lately by doing collages with only black-and-white elements (or, more appropriately... various grays). I'm feeling like I'm enjoying a second voice... or at least experimenting with a second voice. And I feel like it's resonating with vision(s). Here are a couple from tonight (I think each relatively complete.

Small works submissions

Given that I create only analog collages which can somewhat limit the size of my compositions, I always like when I get a call for artwork for a small works exhibit. Here are four works I completed recently that I submitted (suppose to here about acceptance by Friday).
