This will be my submission to the National Collage Society postcard show (all entries must be 4" x 6"). Haven't decided on a title for it yet. Suggestions?

anticipating school's ending

Oh, I can't wait until the semester is over! I just haven't found too much time to devote to my collage work. I was in my studio working on my piece for the upcoming annual "Postcard Show" for the National Collage Society. Although I love the NCS annual juried exhibit, I think it's wonderful that the NCS has an exhibit once a year that is non-juried for all members. I will post a photo of my postcard entry soon; but for now, I thought I'd share a sketch from last night. This is not a finished composition, but just something with which I was experimenting...

teaser

I feel like I have lots of good things in my mind; and am looking forward to some more time to create! Here's a quick one I did tonight (when I actually should have been in sleeping ;-) I'm really kinda liking this one. It's entitled "'Mom, I got this one': 'Oh, you and your father!"

I'm back!

This has been the longest delay between posts on this blog (unfortunately). For that, I apologize to those of you who have shown interest in this blog. It's has been weird for me to have taken such a long hiatus from posting and from creating new collages. BUT, I have been concentrating my efforts on my academic work which has included presenting a paper at this year's annual gathering of the Southern Humanities Council (in Louisville, KY). I presented a paper there entitled "Confessions of a collagist: Appropriation of "private" images for "public" art. I also read two poems related to collage at that conference. I also have recently published my second article in "Kolaj", THE magazine of collage as a fine arts medium. Hopefully some of you are subscribers. If you aren't, you should consider it. With my co-author, Dr. Tyson Kreiger, we published an article in the journal "Psychological Reports" entitled "Nostalgia and art perception". Just a little explanation of what I've been up to... the writing and scholarly side of my "total approach" to psychology, collage and the visual arts. The good news is that I was in my "studio" last night for several hours and will be posting some images of collage sketches SOON!  I will also be updating you on a very interesting project that I will be working on this week!
